Day 155-157

While I was out last Friday, the sub worked on a sight word packet and the next chapter in the math workbook. We started the Stanford Testing on Monday and will continue until they are complete....it is going slower then predicted. I told the students when we finish, we will have a big party in class. There are so many projects to finish up, we are trying to do as much as possible. The students did their July handprint and today we started the June handprint for our handprint calender book. I've asked each student to bring in a 3 ring, 2 inch binder so that I can put all of their special work from the year in it. I also need some pictures of President Obama to complete our "letter Oo" artwork.

Day 152 , 153, and 154

The last two days were spent on letters J and G. We took our class pictures, we are working on graduation, finishing our handprint calenders and alphabet books, and writing journals. We still have two more math units to review. Stanford Testing will begin on monday, please make sure your child has a good breakfast and get to bed early all next week.

I was not at school today due to a procedure I had done on my back. I will be at school on monday.

Day 151, Letter J

Today we made the "J" for our alphabet books. The students colored pictures of Jerusalem. In addition, they wrote "J" words in their picture journals. We played some math games and students worked on centers.

Tomorrow is picture day, please have your child wear their green TDS tshirt.

Day 150 Ladybug Day

What an exciting day today was!!! We had ladybug students of all colors: orange, red, yellow, and white. During class, the students cut out black circles to tape on their shirts. Then they made antennas with pipe cleaners. Finally it was time to release the ladybugs into the garden. Oh, the 1500 bugs were everywhere, landing on everyone's body parts and clothing. Hopefully they will find some aphids to eat and keep our gardens bug free!

Pictures were taken on the TDS camera, so hopefully I will be able to post them soon.

Day 148 Mother's Day Cards

Today we painted the base coat on a wooden flower for an end of the year gift. This will be an ongoing project to paint and decorate until the end of school. Since the weather has been so fabulous, we took our snacks outside and enjoyed the sunshine. By the time we went back in, flowers were dry and ready to paint the opposite side.

From there, we moved onto the Mother's Day Cards. I keep lots and lots of die cut figures and shapes and I think that some students covered every inch of their cards with die cuts. Some pictures were very creative, all with "Mom" in mind.

Next we worked on a chapter in our math workbooks. It should have come home in their backpacks today. Only two more chapters and we'll be finished with the workbooks.

Monday is ladybug day. Have your child wear a red or orange or yellow shirt. We will be releasing ladybugs into the TDS gardens.

Day 147, Ira sleeps over

What a special treat we had today.

JF mother (and little sister tagged along) came to the class today and read this story.

It was perfect since we are just about to start our teddy bear week!

The rest of the day was spent on centers and individual work.

I have postponed our ladybug party until monday, which I will send a note tomorrow.

Please have your child dress in a red or yellow or orange shirt.

We will be ladybugs, in addition, we will be releasing 100's of ladybugs into our TDS gardens.

Day 146 Movement Class

The story I read today.

The students loved this book.

We acted the story out once we read the book.

After davening, we continued to work on the life cycle of the ladybug. The students sequenced the life cycle and put the into order in their "L" page for their alphabet book. During movement class, the students practiced skipping. They also acted out the story of "The Hungry Caterpillar".
