Day 160 and 161

Last Friday I was out due to another procedure on my back. There was no testing, however, they finished their math workbooks and did another chapter in the sight words.

Today we started the math section of the Stanford tests. Afterwards, the students wrote a letter to President Obama (which will not be sent to him) since we are reviewing letter "O".

I am having some difficulties with my back.... the doctor said I must stay off my feet for a few days. Testing will continue tomorrow. The students are working on the graduation invitations.

Graduation will be on Tuesday, June 6, at 10:30 am.

Day 159

Testing is going so well, it's amazing what the promise of an ice pop will do to encourage students to work hard. Today I reviewed the concept of silent "E" at the end of a word, making the vowel become "long". The students worked on a long "O" and short "O" worksheet that will go into their ABC book. If you have not sent in your 2 inch binder, please do so.

Tomorrow I will be out for another medical procedure. I have left math work, a new sight word packet, their picture journals and writing journals. If time allows, they can do centers. There will be no testing tomorrow, but will resume on Monday. If your child is going to be out, please let me know, so that I can privately test him/her before we finish the test.

Day 158

Testing today was much easier for the students to handle. I decided to let them work in the classroom rather then the lunchroom. I also shortened the time. Upon arriving, I showed them the box of ice pops I planned on giving them after the test. Unfortunately, the students were not well behaved and respectful with the sub for Morah E during davening class. Hopefully tomorrow, they will earn the ice pops, it's a hard lesson to learn.

We also had rhythm and movement class. Next week will be our last time with Ms. Maxine, so we will make her a thank you card in class next week.

The students continued to work in the writing journals, centers, some of the students are weaving pot holders, and many other fun things.

Please remember to send the 2 inch binder. I cannot use a smaller one, there is too many pages to fill it with.
